Funding Options and Opportunities
There are two main sources of funding – external and internal. Some funding may be awarded to you upon entry to the program, some is based on recommendations from the Department. It is the student’s responsibility to apply for some types of funding, either through Carleton University or to an external funding agency.
There are a number of prestigious external awards available from national and provincial agencies (i.e. OGS, Tri-Council). For information on applying for external awards from these agencies, visit FGPA’s External Awards site. You can also check out other Special External Scholarships to find out if you are eligible to apply.
Students must apply for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) at the institution where they plan to be registered in a Masters or Doctoral program in 2018-19. Note that each institution will have it’s own forms and deadlines. Our application instructions and forms can be found here. For additional information, refer to our Application Instructions and OGS Application FAQ.
OGS applications must be submitted by November 15, 2017.
Graduate students who have access to Carleton Central must complete the online application and upload the requested documents (found in Carleton Central under Awards and Financial Assistance, Graduate Online Application Forms).
Other applicants (including Carleton undergraduates) fill out a hard copy OGS application form. This form is available under “Application Forms”. Please DOWNLOAD the .pdf forms and complete. Once completed, you must print it and include it in your OGS application package. PLEASE NOTE: Applications must NOT be double-sided.
Hard copy applications should be sent to:
