Originally from Zimbabwe, Rumbi has been a PhD candidate in Political Science since September 2015. Her areas of specialization include International Development, International Relations and Gender & Diversity. Her core research interests include the politics of gender and sexuality vis-à-vis the nation-state, the complex causes and ethical discussions surrounding sex trafficking and the politics of dress and modesty within religious and cultural contexts. Broadly, her doctoral research looks at the role of “race” within the politics of beauty for African immigrant women living in Canada. She is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Gopika Solanki.
