Welcome

Welcome to the School of Journalism and Communication, one of Carleton University’s founding departments. In 1946, at the university’s first convocation, three of the six degrees awarded were Bachelors of Journalism.

Since then, the School has grown to offer five separate degree programs. As well as a site for professional instruction in the intellectual skills of journalism, the School is an academic department that studies, analyses and criticises the operations of the media, communication policy and communication practice. In addition to undergraduate and graduate degrees in Journalism, the School offers BA, MA and PhD degrees in Communication.
