Mission
We promote a positive residence community experience by offering a safe living environment with a variety of supportive services to our students, as they pursue academic and personal success and to our summer guests seeking an affordable accommodation alternative.

If you received a first year guaranteed offer of residence and would like to reserve your place, the deadline to is 4:30 pm, June 7, 2012. Accepting the offer includes a number of steps, including paying the $700 deposit and completion of the Residence information Form. Please follow the instructions on Carleton Central under “Housing Services”.
Please note: if you are an Ontario secondary school student and you wish to accept your residence offer, you must first accept the offer of admission to Carleton University by June 1, 2012.

All students are required to leave residence no later than midnight of the following day after the resident’s last regularly scheduled spring examination.
When ready to leave and all belongings have been cleared from the room, the student is required to have the room inspected by a staff member. We have prepared a checklist for your consideration in advance of residence move out. These are conditions which the Room Inspector will be looking for prior to giving final clearance to students upon move out.
The room, bathroom, suite area and furnishings will be checked for damages, deficiencies and cleanliness. If the room inspector determines that your room is not ready for inspection he/she will leave and advise that the student call back when it is. To arrange for the inspection, please call the full number 613-520-2600 ext 1316 or visit the Raven’s Roost, Tunnel Level of Stormont House. Once the inspection has been completed and the student receives written clearance, the bathroom door and the room and, if applicable, suite door is locked and keys are returned to the staff member. If there are damages or missing items for which the student is being charged, the keys will be retained and the student will be required to bring the Withdrawal Clearance Form to the desk for final clearance, which may include paying any charges. No inspections will be done between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. Students leaving during these hours will be required to use Express Check Out.
NOTE: Students unable to depart on the scheduled departure day require the prior permission of the Department of Housing and Conference Services to remain in Residence. Click here for information on Residence Extension Requests.
Express Check Out New this year!!
We are introducing our Express Check Out Process. Students can use express check out anytime. The room will be inspected after departure. By using express check out, the student waives the right to appeal any charges billed to the student account resulting from the inspection. Having a roommate or suitemate left in the room does not release the student from the responsibilities associated with preparing the room or suite for inspection.
To arrange for Express Check Out:
-Visit the Housing Office to register and pick up Express Check Out Envelope.
-On scheduled day of departure student will:
Remove all garbage and recycling to appropriate area.
Suites – Empty refrigerator wipe refrigerator, stovetop / clean microwave.
Leave room clean and in the original set up.
Close all windows and door.
Turn off lights.
Lock bathroom, room, and if applicable suite door and put keys in Express Check Out Envelope and return envelope to Residence Desk in Residence Commons.
NOTE: Students who depart without following the standard move-out procedure or registering for the Express Check Out will be charged with an “improper checkout” and will be subject to a penalty of $50.
Store Your Dorm
Store Your Dorm can help you if you are leaving campus in April/May and need storage until September. They’ll deliver boxes & tape to you. They’ll pick-up your goods in your room in April, store them for the summer then deliver them back to you in September, whether you live on or off campus. You don’t lift a finger.

| A Quick Word About Fridges Residence students are not permitted to bring personal refrigerators into the residence buildings. Residents who are interested in having a refrigerator in their room, can make arrangements with the University’s contractor Coldexfor rental of a 3 cubic foot or a 5 cubic foot refrigerator for the academic year. Restricting personal refrigerators to those provided by Coldex ensures that all refrigerators are properly cleaned and in good working order, assists the University in providing a safe and healthy living environment in its Residences and contributes to the University’s sustainability efforts.Please note: The suites residences, Prescott, Frontenac, and Leeds have a meal preparation area in the suite that includes a full size refrigerator for use by all residents of that assigned space. |
