Over the years, the department has hosted writers in residence and visiting scholars, whose presence has enriched Carleton’s research community.

For the fall of 2009, the department is proud to announce that John Barrell, from the Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies, University of York, United Kingdom, will be the FASS Visiting Scholar–thanks to the office of the Dean of Arts and Social Science.

Paul Keen, the chair of the English Department, will also be sponsoring two post-doctoral candidates. More information to come.
